In Search of God
St. Teresa of Avila says, “If a soul wishes to speak with its Father and enjoy His company, it does not have to go to heaven. It needs no wings to go in search of Him, but only to find a place where it can be alone and look upon Him present within itself”.
“The Kingdom of God is within you” (Lk 17:21). God is hidden in the inmost being of the soul. If the soul wants to find God, it has to enter within itself in deepest recollection. To find God we need to detach all that is external and enter within. We need to be like a merchant who gives up everything in order to buy the hidden treasure. The more we die to ourselves, the more we find God. God is our treasure and the things of this world are very little to sell to possess God.
